BLACK QUARTER OUTBREAK IN CATTLE Place: - Aurad (T), Bidar (D) Sick Animal Details: Breed:- Deoni/Brown Age:-

:- 3 yrs Sex:- Male

Physical Examination findings: Animal is well built. Subcutaneous Emphysema palpable over the upper hind limb/hip. Loss of appetite, Dull & depressed with high temperature (105 F 2days ago). Sitting down but still able to rise and walk away when approached and is not being to walk properly. Loss of interest to take feed. Discoloured skin. Characteristic crepitating swelling (there is Cracking sound under pressure) developed on the hip, swelling enlarged and became spongy & gaseous over last 2 days. Muscle of hind leg was most affected, gas bubbles were observed in affected muscle by pricking with needle. There is no difficulty in breathing. No suspended rumination. Swelling in the same leg reoccurred 2nd time (First was last year)

Microscopic Examination findings: There are gram positive bacilli.
