Emma Gustafson Subject: Social Studies Date: 9/25/2012 Library Lesson One Objective The purpose of rules and authority figures is to provide order, security and safety in the home, school and community.
Activities Opener/making connections: o Talk about the following topics before reading book What is a library? Who works in the library? What do you do in a library? What can you find in a library? o Explain we are going to make a list of rules to follow when we are at the library. o Read book Guided Instruction o After reading the book the students will generate ideas on different rules that we should follow in the library and I will write the rules on a piece of chart paper. o Who can come up with some ideaswhat rules do we need to follow at the library? o I will give the first examples to guide the students, and help them begin their thinking. Independent practice o Give the students an opportunity to draw or write his or her, own rule. While circulating the room to check on their progress and help when needed. Accommodations o Advanced learners- Ask these students to write their own rules use words not only pictures. o Sam o Zayn o Victor
o Struggling learners- for these students I will give them extra assistance and make sure that they understand the rules, he or she can verbally give me their answer or just draw a picture. o Tess o Isabel o Tori o Will
