After-School Program

Program Goals: The main goal of Meeting Streets After-School Program is to provide a safe and positive environment for the students through the following: by enriching and empowering our children by building on their interests and strengths by applauding their achievements and by planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating the After-School Program.

Program Objectives: The objectives of Meeting Streets After-School Program are as follows: Our students will grow socially through the Responsive Classroom Approach to teaching children social and academic intelligence. Our students will grow emotionally by participating in recreation activities with their peers and after-school leaders. Our students will develop and improve in homework skills to reinforce learning during homework groups. Our students will build on physical growth through organized gym and movement activities. Our students will be enriched by art, music and technology activities. Our students will develop good health and nutrition habits through snack and health supervision.

We will accomplish our goals and objectives through: After-school leaders utilize principles and practices of The Responsive Classroom Approach providing positive social and academic learning opportunities for our students. Recreational games and activities to engage students in learning through play. Homework groups to promote student independence, confidence and increase in academic skills. Use of the gymnasium and playground for organized physical group and individual games and activities to promote physical and emotional growth. Provide organized and creative art, music and technology activities developed and facilitated by after-school leaders.
