MINISTERS EMANCIPATION DAY MESSAGE On the auspicious occasion of Trinidad and Tobagos 175th Anniversary of Emancipation, I bring warm greetings to all. It is with great pride that I can boast of being a Trinbagonian, and belonging to a multicultural land where our citizens stand in unity in recognition of our countrys historical legacy of colonialism, slavery and indentureship. Indeed, Trinidad and Tobago can serve as an example to other nations. While we honour the memories of our historical background, we have learnt how to move forward from our past and create a future as a collective people, belonging to our homeland Trinidad and Tobago. Long have we learnt to accept each other, to live in harmony with each other, enjoying the same rights, freedoms and equal opportunities. EMANCIPATION DAY CELEBRATIONS
In celebration of Emancipation Day, various activities were planned under the theme Celebrating Our African Heritage. Here are some highlights from the African music and clothing display. More pictures will be included in the next issue of the Whats Happening (Friday 2nd August, 2013).
