III. Course Description: This course deals with the science and the art of correct thinking. As such, it sharpens the mind to think critically, analytically and
scientifically. It seeks approaches for the mind to operate orderly.

IV. Objectives:

A. Institutional Objectives:

JMC aims to provide a complete and centralized system that molds every student into becoming a skillful and knowledgeable individual, spiritually, and morally
cultivated and academically excellent; where education is characterized by practical and active learning based on the standards suitable to the basic needs of every
student; where education provides new ways to deeper learning not only in the academic aspect but also in other areas of living both socially and spiritually.

B. Course Objectives:

b.1. Cognitive (Creed)

b.1.1 To know the important principles and rules which govern mental operation.
b.1.2 To employ scientific thinking in solving life’s problem.

b.2. Affective (Moral)

b.2.1 To internalize and apply appropriate Laws and Principles to a given problem for the attainment of truth.
b.2.2 To justify life’s problem by confronting them with an analytical, critical, and systematic mind.

b.3. Psychomotor (Skills)

b.3.1 To construct logical arguments by using principles regarding correct thinking.


b.3.2 To differentiate valid arguments from invalid arguments.

VII. Computing the Final Grade

Criteria for each Grading Period

 Long Exam - 40% (fixed)


 Attendance, including deportment - 10% (fixed)

 Quizzes
 Term Paper, Project, - 50% (flexible, but distribution of weight must be fixed to each criterion established)
 Assignment, etc.

Note: Minimum passing score is 60% of the total number of items

Formula on computing the Final Grade (FG)

Midterm + Final = Final Grade

• The result shall be rounded to the nearest ones only on Finals.


• The final grade shall either be a passing grade or failure.
