    LaborcandidateforBendigo,LisaChesters,todaywelcomedtheannouncementbytheFederal LaborGovernmentthatitwillprovideanadditional$1.5billiontocontinuetheFamilySupport Program. Thisongoingfundingmeanslocalcommunityorganisationscancontinuetodelivervital supportservicesforfamiliesandchildrenacrosstheBendigoelectorate. Thefouryearfundingcommitmentprovidesgreatercertaintyforourlocalfamilysupport serviceproviders,includingtheSalvationArmy,StLukesAnglicareandCentacare,sotheycan planaheadandinvestinlongtermsupportforfamiliesandchildren,MsChesterssaid. Laborrecognisestheimportanceofearlyinterventiontosupportfamiliesandchildrentohelp preventproblemsfromdevelopingandescalating. FederalLaborwillalsoprovideanadditional$5milliontopromotegreatercollaboration betweentheseservicesincommunities,toensurethatfamilieshaveaccesstointegrated,high quality,earlyinterventionandpreventionandfamilylawservices. TheFederalGovernmentwillworkcloselywiththesectortoimplementtheseimportant changestotheFamilySupportProgram.
