Teacher: Mr. Harr E-mail: zjharr@okcps.org Phone: (724) 858-6453 Room: A139 Website: www.mrharrmath.weebly.com Textbooks: Glencoe McGraw-Hill: Math Connects Time Blocks (TB) That I Teach Pre-Algebra: 1st, 4th, 5th, & 6th Course Objectives: At the end of this course, the student should be able to do the following: 1) Use numbers & number relationships to solve a variety of problems. 2) Graph and solve linear equations & inequalities in problem solving settings. 3) Use data analysis, probability, and statistics to interpret data in a variety of contexts. 4) Use geometric properties to solve problems in a variety of contexts. 5) Use measurement to solve problems in a variety of contexts. 6) Score Advanced or Proficient on the PASS end-of-year 7th grade exam Required Materials: (Need to have IN class by Monday, August 12th!) 1. Spiral Notebook 2. Several Pencils 3. Binder (for math class only!) 4. 1 Pack of Expo Dry Erase Markers 5. Optional: Scientific Calculator Students will be provided with a folder on the first day of class to keep important papers. School Rules: 1. Follow directions the first time given 2. Stay on task 3. Be prepared 4. Be on time 5. Keep arms, hands, feet and objects to yourself 6. No swearing, crude gestures, or cruel teasing
Severe Clause: Students engaging in dangerous, abusive or illegal behavior will be referred directly to the assistant principal.

Consequences: 1. Warning 2. 45 second end of class detention 3. Detention with parent contact 4. Parent conference 5. Referral to administrator 6. Rule of 3 Referral to Behavior Interventionist

Classroom Expectations: 1. Students will always be PRESENT 2. Students will always be PREPARED 1 of 3

3. Students will always be RESPECTFUL Late Work Policy: Late work will be accepted. For each day that it is late, the assignment grade will be decreased by 10%. Make-up Work Policy: It is the responsibility of the student to make-up work when he/she is absent. All students will receive a packet at the beginning of each week providing a framework for the student. The packet will include future notes, homework assignments & due dates, review days, and test days for that week. This gives the student no excuse for not knowing the assignment/notes/test dates. Assignments/tests will be due when student returns to school and will fall under the late work policy if not completed. This policy is under the discretion of Mr. Harr. Classroom Procedures: 1. Beginning the Class: Enter room quietly & respectfully, turn in all homework, pick up materials, move quietly to your seat, and begin working on the Bell Work silently & independently. At the bell, Mr. Harr will come in, start the timer for three to five minutes, and at the end we will go over the questions. 2. Entering the Classroom Tardy: Please do not disrupt the class. Do not knock. Come in quietly, prepare yourself for class with the necessary materials, and move to your seat. Tardies will follow the campus wide consequences provide above. 3. Sharpening Pencil: Pencils must be sharpened before the beginning of class of during the Bell Work. 4. Going to the Bathroom: Bathroom passes will only be given during Work Time on a need be basis (not during the Opening or Closing). Students may only be excused to use the restroom one at a time. If this privilege is abused, the student will lose their bathroom pass for the remainder of the semester. 5. Dismissal: Please remember that the teacher dismisses the class, not the bell. When all desks and floor areas have been properly cleaned up and all students are seated, Mr. Harr will dismiss the class. All students will exit the room quietly and respectfully and will travel orderly in the hallway to the following class. 6. Returning Homework: Homework is due on the assigned day in this class. Please return homework to the proper homework tray. Each class will have a designated box below the data wall. 7. Partner/Group Work: Students will get into partners or groups quietly, quickly, and efficiently. During partner/group work time, all students will be on task 100% of the time, use their 12-inch voices, and actively participate. Academic Dishonesty Policy: It is an expectation in this class that all students will abide by ethical academic standards. Academic dishonesty including cheating or copying the work of another, plagiarism, using technology for illicit purposes, or any unauthorized communication between students for the purpose of gaining advantage during an examination, is strictly prohibited. This policy covers tests, quizzes, projects, homework assignments, and exit tickets, both in and out of the class. Any student who violates the academic dishonesty policy will receive a direct referral to the assistant principle. The purpose of this policy is to prepare students for the reality of our world, including college and beyond, where cheating and plagiarism have severe consequences.
