Part II: Reflection

CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and leadership from completing this field experience? I developed a multimedia project that will be implemented in the first grade classroom. The project covers all the standards that will be assessed on the Georgia CRCT in May. The students will learn all about weather, look at the forecast each day, predict the weather, and develop a weather forecast using props and a video camera. The students will be recorded and evaluated on their weather report. This will make the project meaningful and authentic to the student. I learned that a lot of time and researching takes place when developing an effective technology product. I spent 30 hours making sure that the standards and the project elements were aligned and will be effective to the teacher and student. I know this is part of the process and will make me a better technology leader in the future. I also feel like I can be an effective technology designer, implementer and coach by creating and implementing this project. 2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge, skills, and dispositions.) The students will need to know the standards for weather because they will be assessed at the end of the year. The school will also be accountable for these results as well because it will show whether the class and students are making adequate yearly progress in that grade and subject. The students must be able to master each standard covered in this Multimedia Design Project because it includes all Weather standards. This will be assessed on the CRCT given in May. The students must show growth in this subject to go to the next grade. The data used from the CRCT will determine which classes they will be in for the next grade according to their ability in that subject so the data is very important. The students will love this project. The students in first grade go crazy when they are involved with anything that involves technology. I think they will love the Vokis in the project. This will also help them read and understand the project if they are having trouble reading. Their attitudes about this project will exhibit enthusiasm!

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed? Student learning will definitely be going on once this project is implemented. Weather is a big unit with lots of standards that need to be taught and mastered before the end of the year. The students will be assessed through the rubric that is placed on the website. The students will also be assessed on these standards through the Georgia CRCT that is given to the students towards the last few months of the school year. The teachers will get the results and will be able to disaggregate the data through the use of these results.
