1. The attack of Pearl Harbor was to neutralize the U.S. Fleet. 2. It was to also bulwark Japans advancement into Malayo and into the Dutch Indies. 3. Japan hoped it would by time to consolidate and increase its naval strength. 4. It was to blow a sever blow to the American morale. 5. The total intention was to enable Japan to conquer Southeast Asia with no interference. B. The people accommodated with it 1. President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered a military set-up in the Philippines. 2. Douglas McArthur opposed the defense of the Philippine with a 40,000 man elite force.
