WASHINGTON: US President Barack Obama has appointed Shantanu Narayen, president and CEO of Adobe Systems, as a member of his Management Advisory Board. Along with Narayen, Obama appointed nine other eminent individuals to President' s Management Advisory Board (PMAB). "I am grateful that these impressive individuals have chosen to dedicate their t alents to serve the American people at this important time for our country. I lo ok forward to working with them in the months and years ahead to deliver a gover nment that's more affordable, effective and efficient," Obama said in a statemen t. PMAB was established by an executive order in April 2010 to advice on how to imp lement best business practices on matters related to Federal Government manageme nt and operation focusing on productivity, the application of technology and cus tomer service. The Board will be holding its first meeting at the White House today. It is part of President Obama's ongoing commitment to cut waste and get the most from taxpayer dollars. Chaired by deputy director for Management of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Jeffrey Zients, PMAB will advise both the President and his Management Co uncil, an interagency group that includes the deputy secretaries from the major executive departments and agencies. Before becoming Adobe CEO in 2007, Narayen - who holds a bachelor's degree in el ectronics engineering from Osmania University, was Adobe's president and COO. He had held key product research and development positions within Adobe, includi ng executive vice president of worldwide products and vice president and general manager of the engineering technology group. Before joining Adobe in 1998, Narayen was a co-founder of Pictra Inc, an online photo sharing service. Prior to that, he held senior management positions at Silicon Graphics, Inc and Apple Computer, Inc. Narayen also holds an MS from Bowling Green State University and an MBA from the Haas School of Business.
