    Listening is an important skill for English learners to practice. Students should be exposed to a variety of English accents from America, Britain, Australia, the Caribbean, India, and West Africa through recorded materials like advertisements, news broadcasts, poetry, music and speeches. The teacher can imitate these materials but recordings are more powerful for exposing students to natural pronunciation, rhythm, intonation, pitch and stress. Students should start with simplified materials and progress to more authentic recordings based on their level to develop listening comprehension.
