Background
Strathmore University started in 1961 as an A-Level College and became a University in August 2002. In addition to professional courses DBIT, CPA, ACCA, CISA, CFA, ILM Strathmore offers two degree programmes: Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBIT) and Bachelor of Commerce (BCOM). Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBIT) is a modern course that brings together two key aspects of computer training, that is, the link between Computer Science and the business environment. In the past many students would have found opportunities in the work environment with just computer science training. Nowadays organisations are more specific in their preferences, and require computer science paired with management skills. Employers prefer students who have a thorough knowledge of Information Technology, and who at the same time understand how business organisations are managed. While studying BBIT at Strathmore University, students take courses in Management, Humanities, and Ethics, which give them an overall perspective of business organisations and how they run.

Strategic use of information systems to give companies a competitive advantage through proper information management Management of ICT as a strategic corporate resource
