The Silent Way Teaching

In the following, "T" is used to indicate teacher, "S", student, and "SS", students. The language to teach: a pen T : take as many as pens as there are learners or more. T : show pens in different colors and sizes one after another, pause, and after each say " a pen" T : ask all language learners to take one pen for everyone and say " a pen". SS: take a pen and say " a pen". T : ask each student to take one pen and signal him/her to say "a pen".

The language to teach: colors T : Silently show a blue pen, pause, and then say "a blue pen". T : show a red pen, pause, and say " a red pen". T : show a blue pen to learners and signal them to say " a blue pen". SS: say " a blue pen". T : show the red pen and give a signal to learners to say " a red pen". SS: say " a red pen". T : show a black pen and say " black", expecting the learners to say " a black pen". SS: say " a black pen". T : show another blue pen. SS: say " a blue pen" T : show another red pen. SS: say " a red pen". T : show another black pen. SS: say " a black pen". T : show a yellow pen, pause, and say "yellow". SS: say " a yellow pen".
