ABSTRACT

A CORRELATION STUDY BETWEEN NEUROTIC TENDENCIES WITH PRIMARY DYSMENORRHEA INCIDENCE ON STUDENT AT MEDICINE UNIVERSITY FK UNLAM CLASS OF 2009 (?)

Menstrual pain / dysmenorrhea is painful abdominal cramps and severe stab around the lower abdomen. Dysmenorrhea occurs in 50% of women in reproductive age and 60-85% in adolescence. Prevalence of primary dysmenorrhea highest at ages 20 to 24 years and decreased progressively thereafter. While stress body will produce a variety of hormones, causing hormonal imbalances. That can cause disruptions on several factors, namely: prostaglandins, sex steroid hormones, nervous system (neurologic), vasopressin, and psychic which can lead to primary dysmenorrhea. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between neurotic tendencies with primary dysmenorrhea incidence on student at medicine university FK Unlam class of 2009. This study was observational analytic with cross-sectional approach. The population is a student at the FK UNLAM class of 2009. Meanwhile, the samples are selected by purposive sampling, the minimum sample of 30 people with the following criteria: student at PSPD FK UNLAM Banjarbaru class of 2009, to be honest, and willing to be the respondents in this study. This study started by the respondents to fill in basic data stuffing, dysmenorrhea questionnaires, and Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI) questionnaires. Data analysis using Lambda test and it will acceptable if value of p <0.05. The results of the statistical analysis showed a correlation between neurotic tendencies with primary dysmenorrhea incidence on student at medicine university FK UNLAM class of 2009 (p = 0.490).
