Assignment 1 1. Explain in brief standing wave and reflection coefficient of transmission line and derive the expression for the impedance and reflection coefficient at any point on the line. 2. A Transmission line has characteristic impedance of 50 and is terminated in a load impedance of 100+ j 150 calculate (a) the reflection coefficient and (b) standing wave ratio using smith chart. 3. A load impedance of 40 + j70 terminates a 100 transmission line that is 0.2 long. Find the reflection coefficient at the load, the reflection coefficient at the input to the line, the input impedance, the SWR on the line, and the return loss. Use smith chart. 4. 5. 6. 7. Differentiate in between lumped impedance and distributed impedance circuit. Describe advantages and disadvantages of microwaves. Define reflection coefficient, standing wave, line impedance. Differentiate single and double stub matching techniques.
