i tried this, and i believe it works for some, unfortunately it did not solve my problem.

when i print, the black ink works near the top of the page, but quickly fades and leaves no print whatsoever on the rest of the page. my black ink level shows that the cartridge is almost half full. i've gone around this problem, however, by opening 'Preferences' > 'Paper/Quality' tab > and select 'Photo Paper-Best Quality'. then, in 'Advanced' options, select 'High Scale B&W' and 'Print In Max DPI: > Yes'
