Absolutely Gorgeous Pacifico Dance Company Celebrates Mexico en MovimientoMexico from the Aztecs To Today
Thirty-two member company to perform on Stage One
(September 18, 2013 Folsom, CA) Founded in 1992, this company of 32 accomplished dancers and musicians will present the essence of traditional folkloric styles with modern dance idioms. The company has toured internationallythe first folkloric company to tour Asiaand enjoyed a residency in The Kennedy Center. The work to be performed on Stage One, Mexico en Movimiento begins in the enigmatic realm of Aztec mythology and journeys onward, offering an exciting glimpse of Mexicos evolving present, and the afterlife. Pacfico brings us Mexican dances with classical rigor (La Opinin). Pacfico Dance Company will perform Mexico en Movimiento on Fri, Oct 4, 2013; 7:30 pm. Tickets are $19-$29; Premium $39; Students with ID are $12. Parking is included in the price of the ticket. Harris Center is located on the west side of Folsom Lake College campus in Folsom, CA, facing East Bidwell Street. Pacifco Dance Company is dedicated to the preservation and reconstruction of classical and contemporary Mexican dance forms. Under the Artistic direction of Adriana Astorga-Gainey, Pacifco Dance Company has performed for audiences across the nation and internationally, educating culturally diverse communities as well as providing Hispanic audiences with a forum for developing pride in their own heritage. Past works include Frida Kahlo, the Legend of La Llorona, Saln Mxico, Mictlan, Calacas Clandestinas, and the Virgin of Guadalupe. Pre-Hispanic works from Concheros and traditional dances from Jalisco, Guerrero, Puebla, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Michoacan, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas and Veracruz round out the repertoire. Absolutely gorgeous! Same Three Stages, Brand New Name! Originally named Three Stages at Folsom Lake College in 2011, the facility has been renamed to honor Brice Harris, Chancellor Emeritus of the Los Rios Community College District, for his many contributions to the capital region, including the vision and leadership he provided in opening this regional arts center. Harris Center for the Arts at Folsom Lake College presents touring artists from around the world; partners with the best regional arts organizations, and supports productions by FLC students and faculty. The Harris Center is a $50 million facility built with a combination of state, regional, local and private funds. Harris Center has three intimate theaters, an art gallery, a recording studio, elegant teaching spaces, plenty of safe parking and all the other amenities of a state-of-the-art performing arts venue.
