GUIDANCE

Corecon uses wire-guidance as our standard on all systems because of its proven
reliability in the AGV market over the years. The vast majority of all AGV systems
currently in operation use wire guidance. Wire guidance control is less costly, simpler
and requires less programming as compared to other guidance systems making the
vehicle and installation price much lower. Wire guidance is also more accurate because
the AGV’s guide on a fixed path allowing for a safer plant operational environment.
Unlike many of our competitors who use foreign control components, such as micro
processor boards, power amplifiers, keypads, etc. All Corecon controls are from U.S.
sources. The cost and repair of our industry standard control boards are substantially
lower and have shorter lead times as compared to the overseas microprocessor boards
used by other AGV manufacturers.

WIRE GUIDANCE

Wires embedded in a shallow 1/4"wide x 1"deep

slot in the floor of an installation are used to guide
a vehicle. Up to four of these wires, each carrying a
different frequency, may occupy this slot. They are
then covered with a sealing rope and the slot is
finished flush to the floor surface with epoxy,
making the cut virtually undetectable.

Installation of floor wiring

The wires in the floor are then energized from a frequency generator
and a magnetic field is created around them. The AGV is equipped with
antennas which ‘search out’ the embedded wires, following a given
frequency until instructions are received to follow a different frequency.
In this way automatic movement of the vehicle is accomplished.
Our vehicle’s also have the ability to leave the guidepath to perform
programmed operations off wire such as entering into an elevator or
crossing metal decks, bridges and floor plates with no problem.
And whenever desired, guidepath expansion or off-wire routing can be
done quickly and economically.
