Standards: a. ELA 4.8 Compose descriptive texts using an introductory paragraph, sensory details, vivid language, and a conclusion. Writer will address topic in correct mode and use appropriate tone and language. b. ELA 4.11 Demonstrate knowledge of subject-verb agreement with simple subjects and correct usage of regular and irregular verb forms.
Objectives: a. Students will create a meaningful story by using a story map. b. They will participate in peer writing by working in pairs and reviewing each others work. Introductory Activities: a. Discuss the parts of a paragraph: topic sentence, body, & closing b. Discuss what makes a good story: parts of the story, staying on topic, using descriptive words, and story mapping c. Developmental Activities: a. Students will be paired up to create and complete a story. b. The teacher will pass out blank story maps for the students to use to complete their story. c. Each pair will plan their story then rewrite their story on another sheet of paper.

Culminating Activities: a. As students finish their stories they will be grouped with another pair to exchange and review each others story.

b. Students will proof read and make corrections to each groups stories as well as give ideas as to improve each others stories.

Assessment (Evaluation of the Days Objectives/Assessing Students Learning): a. Teacher will assess students by observing them working in pairs to create a story. b. Students will share their stories with the class. c. Paired groups will share how they helped each other.

Modifications for Special Needs: a. Students with special needs will be paired up with a student who can assist them. b. Additional time will be allotted for students to complete the activity
