Algebra II Mathematician: ____________________________________________ Per: _ Cup-Stacking Lab Analysis Date: _____________ Now that you have completed the

lab and made your guess, I would like you to do a little write up on the activity. The rubric for this assignment is on the back of this page so you can see how you will be graded. You must turn this piece of paper in when you turn in your project. Part I: You must type up about 1 paragraph covering the following aspects of the lab. - What did you do in the lab? What did you try that worked? What didnt work? - What equation did you use? How did you figure out this equation? o (Might be a good idea to put it in the paragraph as well) - What does the slope mean in this problem? What about the y-intercept? - How close was your guess to the actual answer? What could be possible sources of error? - Did you like this activity? Why or why not? Part II: In addition to the paragraph, you must answer the following questions. You are allowed to just answer the questions on this worksheet and turn this in. You must show set up for your work! 1) Using your equation figure out a. How tall someone would be if they were 140 cups tall.

b. How tall someone would be if they were 275 cups tall.

c. A person is 140cm tall. How many cups would stack up to their height?

d. Robert Wadlow, the tallest person in history, was 8 ft and 11.1 inches. How many Styrofoam cups would you need to reach his height? (Hint: Think of unit conversion).

2) You have a new cup (Cup # 1) that has a very small lip height but it is very tall. You also have another cup (Cup # 2) that has a large lip height but it is very short. How would your equation change for each of these cups? Which cup stack would be taller after only a few cups? Which cup stack would be taller after hundreds of cups?

You will be graded using the following rubric Cup-Stacking Lab Part I: Explained what occurred during the activity Part I: Interpretation of slope and y-intercept Part I: Answer to the problem 2 Points 4 Points Explained what went on Explained what went on without talking about AND talked about how how the equation was the equation was obtained obtained.
