Intervention Protocol Responsibilities by Role School-Wide Academic Team (SWAT) This current year is a critical one for all

of us at IHMS as we are beginning the most ambitious intervention yet team interventions. This is a complex endeavor requiring input from subject departments, individual teachers, and the interdisciplinary team. Without a clear objective, without a solid structure, and without our combined efforts to make this intervention successful, we are doomed to wallow in confusion as we spin our wheels in futility. The following protocols are an attempt to create the critical structure we need to make this intervention successful. Team Intervention Objective: Members of each interdisciplinary team will use input from subject departments and individual teachers to select appropriate Tier 2 interventions for students on their team in an effort to increase student learning and progress. School-Wide Academic Team (SWAT)this team is the intervention clearing house of the school. The team consists of the three administrators, the three counselors, the psychologist and the intervention specialist. The team meets weekly and does the following: Before the weekly meeting, the intervention specialist (Mr. Halbert) reviews all students with individual student intervention plans. Reviews progress of interventions. Discusses individual student progress of students referred to SWAT by their interdisciplinary teams. Determines next steps: o o o Using the data on the individual students Student Intervention plan, recommend additi onal interventions for the team to implement. Directs Mr. Halbert to work with the team to implement additional strategies, support strategies already in place. Refer the student for additional services, e.g., special ed, counseling, guidance, etc.
