INTRODUCTION

You don't need to be an artist or an expert in stick-


figures. Remember that the purpose in using stick
figures is to make easier the teaching learning
process. You want to motivate students to use and
communicate in English.

instructor, are going to use this ability make your
classes more meaningful and productive. And you
must remember that students already know to use

DRAWING
Objective 1 THE STICK FIGURE
Drawing the Stick Figure
We are going to identify the basic structure of the stick
figure and the different elements of the face and body. We
will include how to give expressions and actions to the stick
figure, and personality as well.

Stick Figures in the elaboration of Didactic materials.
We are going to see how to use stick figures in the
elaboration of flash cards, posters, and other teaching
materials.

Stick Figures in language activities
We will see how to use Stick Figures in Short Readings,
Grammar points, Poems, Controlled Compositions and so on

As you see the other models of stick figures used by other


persons, you will realize the basic concepts on how to draw
stick figures will give you the alternative to create your own
stick figure characters in many ways and designs. Simplicity
is what counts. We recommend you to practice and copy the
different samples provided in this tutorial. Pick up the model
that best fits your ability and needs, then keep practicing until
you can easily draw your stick figures.

In giving action and personality to your stick figures, you must


consider these particular points:
1. Exaggerate the action.
2. Include facial expression in simple lines to stress the
situation.
3. Consider just the outstanding details regarding professions,
sports, nationalities and so on.

Now you are ready to prepare charts, posters, flash cards, Power Point
presentations, and so on with Stick Figures. Of course, you need to
prepare a Lesson Plan beforehand. We have included some sample to
help you organize your new lessons. On the other hand, you can ask
your students to prepare their material with stick figures for a
particular class. You can prepare material for grammar, vocabulary,
short conversations and stories, and many other resources.
