Chapter 16 I Learned

I learned that movement is a powerful communicator and I think that is true because children at a certain age that are just starting to talk dont know how to use their words to communicate so the only way they can communicate is by their movements. I also learned that movement activities more than any other activity that children participate in, movement activities off children rich opportunities for the development of their total self. Like I said before movement is the only way children know how to communicate and that is why movement is a great way for children to express themselves. Creative movement is the movement that reflects the mood or inner state of a child. The benefits from creative movement are: sensory awareness, social development, body awareness, concentration and personal development. When creating a lesson plan for creative movement a teacher should take into consideration those benefits. When creating a creative movement activity a teacher should also take into consideration the age group and the environment you are in. I learned ways to manage creative movement in the elementary classroom, how to define expectations, how to prepare the room, giving cues to the children, and commenting on students work. There are also ways a teacher can add music to creative movement. And you can also have visual art and movement and I learned some ways I can get started on. I learned about dance and art, creative movement and sound collages, how to create dance paintings, using a magic wand, and how to sculpture or architecture dances. When creating creative movement activities a teacher also needs to take inconsideration the developmental delays, impairments or if a child just needs help. Creative movement should be fun and give the children a chance to express themselves.

Chapter 17 I Learned
I learned children love the sound of their own voice and that starts very young when they are infants and start to realize they have a voice and they start to babble. I also learned that music is central to the human experience of children. And it continues when they are adults, I know for me I would rather listen to music then watch TV and for me sometimes for me to concentrate I have to listen to music and for children that can start at a young age. I learned that the two keys to success in all musical endeavors are flexibility and acceptance. A teacher should be able to accept more than one kind of response to a music activity and adapt the activity accordingly. I also think just being a teacher when creating an activity plan or just in general we need to be flexible and acceptance. I learned ways to introduce music elements and how to varying the rhythm of the program. Varying the Rhythm of the program helps hold childrens interest and make the experience enjoyable. I also learned how to use rhythm instruments with the children. Music is important just like creative movement some children express themselves better through music.
