Progress results for the Auckland Council elections show incumbent Mayor Len Brown has been re-elected for a second term and is currently 50,014 votes ahead of his nearest rival John Palino. On the basis of the progress results, incumbent councillors Richard Northey (Maungakiekie-Tamaki) and Ann Hartley (North Shore) have lost their seats. The new councillors-elect are Denise Krum for Maungakiekie-Tamaki and Chris Darby on the North Shore. In the Whau ward, incumbent councillor Noelene Raffills is 89 votes ahead of Ross Clow. The final result could be affected by the special votes still to be counted. Other new faces replacing retiring councillors are: Linda Cooper (Waitakere) who replaces Sandra Coney; John Watson (Albany) who replaces Michael Goudie; and Bill Cashmore (Franklin), who replaces Des Morrison. By this morning 34.3% of eligible voters had cast their votes. The progress results for Mayor are:

All progress results are available at www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/elections Preliminary results will also be posted online around 9pm this evening. The final result will be declared on Thursday 17 October.
