Lesson plan KSSR Year 4 Learning focus: Listening and Speaking Theme: World of Self, Family and Friends

Topic: What do you like? Learning Standard: 1.1.1 Able to speak with correct word stress 1.1.2Able to listen to and recite poems, tongue twisters and sing songs paying attention to pronunciation, rhythm and intonation.

Objective: By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to pronounce words and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and intonation. Time: 9.15 a.m. 10.15 a.m (one hour) Teaching aids: Pictures of actions (verbs), CD Cross Curricular Elements: Multiple Intelligences Steps: Pre-teaching 1. Teacher shows pictures of some actions. Examples: dancing, skipping, swimming, sky-diving, playing baseball, skating etc. 2. Pupils guess the actions about the pictures and teacher drills the vocabularies used several times. 3. Teachers selects pupils at random to choose a piece of card and do the action.

4. Other pupils guess the action done by their friend. While-teaching 1. Teacher asks what pupils like to do during their leisure time to enhance their previous knowledge. 2. Teacher explains that all those actions are called hobbies.. 3. Teacher plays a CD on the chant and asks the pupils to listen attentively. 4. Teacher recites the chant again and pupils follow as a whole then followed in groups. 5. Teacher asks the pupils to name the hobbies mentioned in the chant. 6. Teacher drills on the vocabularies used. Post-teaching 1. Teacher divides the pupils into groups of six and come out with pictures of things mentioned in the chant. Example; the baseball, roller-skate, parachute, radio, storybook, etc.
