VOLUNTEER SERVICES Veterans of Foreign Wars

Ladies Auxiliary Vice President, 2007-2008 I helped facilitate efforts in supporting service men and women and the community through various activities and fundraising events. I also was responsible for the school outreach programs through the V.F.W. which helped give scholarships to children. Bingo Worker, 2008-2012 I helped run a large Bingo program 2-3 days a week, where I called Bingo, dealt with the monetary side of the operation, and filled out state required documents. These proceeds were essential in keeping the establishment open and allowing them to help assist the community and veterans. Save the Sea Turtle Project Volunteer, March 2013 I stayed the weekend at a turtle reserve in Costa Rica and helped by transplanting and protecting turtle nests from poachers in order to help revive the endangered Leather Back turtles. HONORS / AWARDS Cultural Immersion Award I was given this award for my time spent overseas in Costa Rica as a student teacher. My stay in Costa Rica was for 2 1/2 months. I taught Kindergarten as well as English as a second language. I spent almost two years preparing myself for this opportunity by taking various courses. As a result of my studies, I received 9 masters credits I intend to use in the future. IUPUC School Scholarship I was awarded a scholarship from my university for because I was in good standing with the Department of Education and striving to continue my degree. Dean's List I was on the dean's list for the 2012-2013 school year. To be eligible for this award you have to have a 3.0 GPA or better and be in good standing with the university.
