Title of Experience/Artifact: Physical Education Lesson Plan (pickle ball) Health Lesson Plan (alcohol) APE Lesson Plan

(Individual in pool full class volleyball) Unit Plan (volleyball) Date Experience Completed: Physical education Spring 2012 Health education Spring 2012 APE individual Spring 2013 APE full class Fall 2013 Unit Plan Fall 2013 Artifact Description: All artifacts included in this standard focus on three different areas: Physical Education, Health Education and Adapted Physical Education. The physical education lesson plan was put together in an individual sports class and the lesson is related to pickle ball. The health lesson plan and linked material covers the topic of alcohol. The individual adapted physical education lesson plan was created during adapted aquatics class while working in a one on one setting with a student with a disability in the pool and the volleyball adapted physical education lesson plan was put together so that a student with a disability could fully participate in class with some modifications. The unit plan was created under the topic of volleyball and demonstrates my understanding in scaffolded learning. Wisconsin Teacher Standard Alignment: I believe these artifacts align best with Standard One: Content; Teachers know the subjects they are teaching. The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the disciplines she or he teaches and can create learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful for pupils. These artifacts align with this standard because they demonstrate my ability to plan meaningful lessons which correspond with all certifications and licenses I will be receiving here at UW-Platteville. All artifacts clearly show my understanding and knowledge of health, physical and adapted physical education. The unit plan provided demonstrates my ability to break down instruction in an organized and developmentally appropriate way. Each adapted physical education lesson plan demonstrates my ability to modify and adapt equipment so that all children will have a positive learning experience. The health and physical education lesson plans shows that I am able to develop lessons appropriate for the age group being taught. These artifacts demonstrate competency in this standard because it clearly demonstrates my ability to plan and modify lessons so that all students will have a positive and meaningful learning experience. UW-Platteville School of Education Knowledge, Skills, Dispositions Alignment: I believe these artifacts align with KSD3.c. Engages Students in Learning; The candidate has the ability to engage students in the learning process by linking appropriate content, based upon suitable instructional materials and resources, to students knowledge and experience, being certain that all students are cognitively engaged in the activities/assignments and that the students actively contribute to the content design. Instruction is highly coherent and

appropriately paced for all students and allows for reflection and closure as appropriate. These lesson plans and unit plan align with this KSD because I believe the activities and assignments within them will challenge and encourage students throughout the entire allotted time period. Challenge and encouragement is directly related to my content knowledge; the more I know about the topics I am teaching, the more productive my lessons will be. My knowledge in the three content areas will allow me to create lessons with appropriate information in scaffold learning order. Secondary KSD alignment includes: KSD1.a. Demonstrates Knowledge of Content and Pedagogy What I learned about teaching/learning from this experience: From these experiences I have learned the appropriate way to organize content. I will be able to use this skill when developing lesson and unit plans for health, physical and adapted physical education for all age levels. I also learned that an understanding of the material you are teaching to students is needed to fully engage your students. When a teacher does not fully understand the content knowledge, the students will not gain the proper skills and information, as well as a positive learning environment. When teaching different content areas, resources may need to be used and reviewed in order to unsure a high level of knowledge in those areas. What I learned about myself as a prospective educator as a result of this experience/artifact: As a future educator, this standard demonstrates that I am well-experienced in all areas that I will be licensed and certified in. I learned that in order to have a high level of learning take place in your classroom, lessons must be taught in an order that your students can understand. Not only will learning take place within my students, but it will take place within myself as well. I know that I need to be constantly finding new information and implementing various teaching styles in order to provide my students a well-rounded and positive learning environment.
