High school students in Tennessee who are deaf or hard of hearing are not prepared for life after high school. A. Students who are deaf or hard of hearing are not often aware of their post secondary options (i.e. trade school, community college, and 4 year schools). Most students who are deaf or hard of hearing have anxiety about working in a hearing environment.

Weekly meetings with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in Nashville. College Access and Job Readiness weekend retreat for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in the state of Tennessee. College Access website with information provided in text as well as sign language. Office hours on Google Hangout for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

10-15 students meeting weekly with a college mentor 50-60 students attending the College Access retreat An undetermined number of students will use the information and links provided on the Retreat Facebook. 50-60 students will have access to weekly office hours with a college counselor.

A pre and post test will be given to the students who attend the retreat. Post retreat the students will have an increased knowledge of the: -college application process -financial aid process -job application and interview process -rights and liberties of Deaf The students will also have an increase in selfconfidence and awareness as it relates to life after high school. The students will also produce a career goal.

100% of high school seniors who attend the retreat will fill out one college application. 100%of high school seniors who attend the retreat will complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a FAFSA Forecaster. 50% of the students who attend the retreat will go on at least one college visit in the following year.

100% of high school seniors who attend the retreat will be enrolled in a college or working a job within twelve months. At least 10% of high school students will have a part or full time job. 100% of high school students who attend the retreat will have post secondary education action plan in place.

ASSUMPTIONS:
Students who are deaf or hard of hearing want to attend college or become employed. Parents will allow their high school students to attend an overnight retreat or access an online meeting with a college mentor. Colleges, universities and employers want to accept and hire students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

EXTERNAL FACTORS

Circumstances beyond our control could prevent students from attending an institution
of higher education or becoming employeed.

Colleges or universities and employers can choose to reject or deny students who are
deaf or hard of hearing.

Financial factors can influence college attendance.
