A short slide show by: Mahsa Beheshti

Hi, In this document I want to show you an organized slideshow which is categorized and arranged aspired from my studying method First of all Ill give you some basic information about cables and I try to avoid any sort of unnecessary items Hope it helps you in your learning process

Midi Cable

Cable/TS Cables/Instrument Cables

XLR Cable

Cables Types
TRS Cables

RCA Cable

1/8 inch Cable

3 things to consider for buying studio cables: 1. Type 2. Length 3. Quality

Importance of the 3 items:

Generally anything longer than 12-15 feet gets to be unwidely and frustrating Youll have negligible signal loss The expensive options will be more rugged, have higher quality gold components and a lifetime warranty The cheaper ones will have nickel components, unbalanced connectors and lower quality hardware You should hear the sound and test it yourself to find the ideal ones

The sleeve rejects noise The tip carries the sound

Balanced Cables:
Reject noise that comes into the cable along the length of the cable

Unbalanced Cables:
e.g. TS/Quarter inch/Instrument cables

RCA Cables

*They are designed for video * You can use these for your dvd player or tv etc

TS/Quarter inch/Instrument cable

* Its usually used for connecting gears like guitar, bass, amp etc. * Its not a balanced cable but you can use it with a direct box * Its single conductor * Its really susceptible to noise

XLR Cables

They are known as standard mic cables (balanced) and also as a pro studio cable Locking feature is really a point for this type They are available in both male and female version (as you can see in photo) They are most commonly associated with balanced audio interconnection The connectors are circular in design and have between 3 and 7 pins

TRS Cables

In studios you can see its usually used for headphones It has 2 conductor cable with a shield It has a balanced configuration and is the recommended one for every studio

Direct Box

Direct box is a kind of device that allows us to go from a quarter inch or TS cable and we can have outputs like XLR etc.

Thanks for your time!
