A pple-Teens
Math Game Directions
Play game with a partner. Each of you need a game board,
marker, unifix cubes, and a shared stack of teen cards.
1. Take a card from the deck
2. Read the number and build it with cubes
3. Choose the correct column to write the number to match
the math sentence at the top
Variations:
Have each child use a different dry erase marker to record their answer so that they can see
who ha the most answers. (use dry erase markers if you have laminated the boards)
Have kids use board individually.
Print the B&W apples onto colored copier paper so that each
pair of students has a different color stack. That way it is
easy to keep the game cards together in the right set.

Apple-Teens Game Board
When assembling the game board, it is easiest if you cut off the edge next to (10+6) as in the pictures below. Then attach
(glue or tape....or laminate) it on top of the gray edge of the other page.

Note: The game board pieces on pages 6-7 should be cut out and attached on tab.
There are three pages of cards for you to choose (on pages 3-5), depending upon
your printing preference/ink choice. Each pair of kids need one stack of whichever set
you choose to print.
If you prefer, you can use counters instead of cubes to build the sum. The first time the kids
play it, they have a stack of cubes of 10 that do not change, and they build what goes with it to
create the teen number in a second stack...not just one tower. They play through the cards one
time and then mix them up and play again until the board is full. My kids play the same game
multiple times, so I tend to change it up and make it more difficult as we go.
