.B 07/05/2008 Pre-Primary Rebecca Thomson Start Date 27/08/2013 Kaiden is 5-years-old. He didnt go to kindergarten and had a lot of time with his mum at home. His parents were married earlier this year. He also has a baby sister who was born earlier this year. There has been a lot of drama at home with spiders and safety, they moved into a new house over the weekend. Specific Strategies and Adjustments Level of Prompting Monitoring and Evaluation Outcomes Put hand up Remind whole class of hands up. Choose Kaiden when he puts his hand up and doesnt call out. Non-verbal signals (hand signals, eye contact, or slight nod/shake of head). Verbal cues (e.g. hands up, youre calling out. Keep a tally of times Kaiden has called out during each mat session and also number of times he has raised his hand appropriately. Specific spot on the mat, slightly separate from others (roundabout on the car mat). Remind students to have their hands in their laps.

Verbal praise and non-verbal acknowledgement for appropriate/ good behaviours. Remind Kaiden to sit in his special spot if he forgets.

Check with mum regarding any issues we should know about in Kaidens home life (e.g. the Red back Spider infestation at home really cause a spike in inappropriate behaviour last week). By giving Kaiden personal space I can see what he is doing and he is less tempted to touch others. Give both Kaiden and his mum feedback on behaviours at school on a daily basis. Daily reflection regarding Kaidens behaviour.

Respect others and their property

Discuss with Kaiden the importance of respecting other people and their property. Discuss how he would feel if his friends damaged or stole his belongings. Ask questions regarding why he did something, how he felt, how he thinks the person whose belongings he damaged/stole feels. Provide Kaiden with some tools to curb his inappropriate actions; STOP- before performing inappropriate actions stop and consider what am I about to do? THINK What should I do? How will people feel? DO Make an appropriate choice regarding actions.

Verbal reminders and discussions if inappropriate behaviours occur. Time out to think about and reflect on actions.

Observe Kaidens behaviour and interactions with other children. Record Kaidens responses to questioning. Give both Kaiden and his mum feedback on behaviours at school on a daily basis. Daily reflection regarding Kaidens behaviour.
