HEALTH EDUCATION MR. TOMKINSON SAMUEL S.

YELLIN SCHOOL 2013-2014 GUIDELINES AND EXPECTATIONS CONTRACT Health Education is a comprehensive look at the human body. We will be taking a look at the parts of the body and how they work. Most importantly, we will be learning techniques to keep those body parts working properly in order live a long, healthy life. Participation: Participation is required in every class! Students will be called on to answer and ask questions, volunteer for activities, as well as, completing in-class assignments and labs. Students are encouraged to contribute to class discussions often. Preparation: Students are required to have Health folder and either a pencil or pen every class. Failure to bring a Health folder and a pen or pencil will result in a grade deduction. Attitude/Behavior: Full cooperation with class rules is expected! Anything less will result in grade deductions and/or disciplinary actions. Test/Quizzes: There will be several test and quizzes throughout each marking period. Most exams will be announced, although some may not (POP quiz). Study guides and reviews will be provided before most tests. Homework/Assignments/Projects: Homework is due the following class. That is usually one week from the day it is assigned, unless otherwise stated. Late work will not be accepted without a valid excuse. There will be one project assigned each marking period. Due dates for projects will vary based on marking period. Extra Credit: There will be a chance to earn extra credit once each marking period. However, extra credit will not be offered in a last ditch effort to raise a poor grade! Paying attention in class, completing assignments on time, and studying for tests and quizzes are the best ways to maintain an excellent grade. Health Education Grading Policy: Participation: Preparation: Test/Quizzes/Projects: Homework:
