a (Knowledge and skills in communication in Spanish for a beginner high school Spanish student). The student will engage and demonstrate in oral and written exchanges in Spanish of learned material to socialize and provide and obtain information in familiar setting. Objective: The student will use in oral and written exchanges of information such as, names of days, numbers, order sequence and other information (previewing gender and number masculine/ feminine and singular/plural) taught in Spanish and other taught. 3. Assessment Evidence: The student will identify and write the names of the days in Spanish and use them in a calendar activity. Initially, the teacher will present during the discussion the sequence or order of the days, as well as the pronunciation of each day of the week in Spanish. The students will be group in pairs and then will practice the names of the days in pairs before verbally announcing / speaking their favorite day in Spanish and identifying that day in the order/sequence in a week. 4. Opening Hook: The Teacher will require that the student answer a series of questions by writing down the answers to the questions on a 3x5 card. The teacher will also answer the questions and present his answers to the class. 5. Instructional Strategies / Student Activities Input: The teacher will guide the students / the class by presenting the days of the week in Spanish in a brief lecture explanation and with a handout to the students. The teacher will demonstrate the days of the week in Spanish and in a calendar. Accommodation will take place for hearing impaired students. Preferential seating will assist the hearing impaired students. Preferential seating may be at the front of the class or where the hearing impaired student identifies to the teacher that it is best for his/her learning based on the best educational opportunity for the student. Modeling: The teacher will model the seven days of the week verbally in Spanish. The teacher will model the days of the week before allowing the students to practice speaking the days of the week. Guided Practice: The students will demonstrate to the teacher that they understand and know the days of the week by answering. CFU: The teacher will ask the students questions to check for understanding of the seven days of the week before moving on. The teacher will ask independent question in Spanish and use the October / November calendars to check for understanding. Independent Practice: The student will practice the material individually before group practice. 6. Materials / Resources: October 2012 / November 2013 calendar. 3 x 5 index cards, handout with days, phrases, numbers, order sequence, note taking space. 7. Grouping Patterns: The teacher will initially have the class in one class group for presentation purposes, but will also use pairs of two students for guided practice and reinforcement of the material. 8. Ending, Summary / Reflection: Selected members of the class will present their information as to which is their favorite day and why it is their favorite day. Pronunciation, order, (gender and number) will be presented as a type of preview activity for a future lesson. 9.Technology: (I would incorporate internet access to approved websites that present the days of the week in Spanish and other interactive activities such poetry and important events for the day of the week the class is being taught Date: October 15, 2013 Grade Level: High School 2.
