7th Grade Ancient History

Class Expectations ____________________Mr. Connolly, White Team, Room 213____________________ Welcome to 7th grade! I hope you had a great summer and are excited as excited about the upcoming school year as I am to be teaching you. The content objectives for this course includes an examination of the important themes, events, and people that shaped the Mediterranean world from the beginnings of time until the fall of the Roman Empire in approximately 500AD. Geography will also be an important element of this course. In addition to content objectives, this course will also focus on other, more general, behavioral objectives. History is a very important component of your education because it will improve your ability to think critically. On a practical level, competence in history will help you to better understand the world around you. The best tools to accomplish both of these academic objectives are reading, writing, and discussing. In this course, you can expect to improve your ability to read, write, and to express yourself analytically. You will also work together on projects relating to the major civilizations that we will be studying.____________________________________ Materials You will need to bring the following materials to class EVERYDAY 1) An organized 1 3-ring binder 2) A composition notebook 3) A 1 subject notebook 4) A blue/black pen or pencil 5) Any book or worksheet that you were using for homework

Grade Breakdown 1) 35% Tests 2) 25% Quizzes 3) 20% Homework and Projects 4) 10% Term Notebook Check 5) 10% Positive Class Participation We will have a test at the end of each unit and will have several quizzes between tests. Late homework will not be accepted.________________________________________
