Location and setup of activity: location is at Mothers Touch Day Caresetup of activity done at any time of the day. It is best if you have one teacher get the materials ready while the other teacher is getting the students calm down and getting them ready to do the activity Preparation: this activity done at any time of the day but its better if you do it in the afternoon after the kids had their nap, some of the energy is gone, and they are not so hyperactive anymore which will make the activity go smooth. The activity done Monday, October 7, 2013 at Mothers Touch Day Care during center time. Specific behavioral objective: To have the children make their very own paper pumpkin while using scissors to see if the children know how to use scissors Procedure: Step 1: Have your children lay out two strips of paper in an "X" pattern, overlapping them exactly at the center point. Step 2: Have them continue making additional "X" shapes with paper strips until they forms a starburst pattern.

Step 3: Carefully poke a brad through the center of all of the strips of paper and splay it out to secure the strips in place, or staple the strips in place at the center. Step4: They can now lift the strips up to create a pumpkin-like shape. Make sure the strips are saggy and bulgy in the center and all of the tops of the strips meet at the top. Step 5: Secure the top of the strips with either another brad, or a staple. Step6: Cut off any additional paper that may be hanging off the top edge. Step7: Have them take another strip of paper and cut it in half. Step 8: Staple, or glue it to the top of the pumpkin shape, from under the area where all of the paper layered. Step 9: Have them pull the paper up and curl it into a straw shape with their fingers to create a pumpkin stem. Glue this long tube shape in place. Step10: Draw and cut out two leaves from the green construction paper and glue them on either side of the stem. Let dry. Step 11: Set your paper pumpkin on a table, or attach it to a string and hang it from a tree or window. Discussion: Celebrate the arrival of cool breezes and earlier sunsets by making some pumpkins Terminating statement: Celebrate the arrival of cool breezes and earlier sunsets by making some pumpkins. Cleanup: After we was finish and was done it was clean up time, we gave the kids a 5 min warning then when time was up, we started to sing the clean-up song and the kids all started to clean-up Transition: Since it was almost lunchtime, we had the girls line up to use the bathroom and wash their hands for lunch. We had the boys to sit on the carpet while they wait their turn to go to the bathroom and wash their hands and we wash the tables off Evaluation: Some of the children had no clue what they was doing and they still needed to practice working with scissors because they didnt know how to use scissors or how to hold them Follow-up activities/Future Plans: none
