The Muppets

The Muppets Bio

The Muppets- a popular childrens show that has been around for 60 years. Lead by Kermit the Frog, the Muppets have been a great success with young children, helping them to learn and discover through these fun characters. They have starred in loads of movies, such as The Muppets, The Great Muppet Caper, The Muppets take Manhattan and The Muppets Valentine Show, and have created many songs, like Pigs in Space, Rainbow Connection, Hugga Wugga and Born to be Wild.

Creation of the Muppets

Jim Henson is the creator of the Muppets. He was born in Greenville, 1936, and died in New York, 1990. He also designed the Muppets, along with Michael Frith. Jims puppeteering partner was Russell Wall, who helped Jim to create and perform his first ever puppets on the Morning Show.

Kermit
The fun loving frog that plays the banjo and leads all the other Muppets. Kermit was performed by Jim Henson until his death in 1990, when he was taken over by Steve Whitmore, who has been performing with him to this day. The first show that Kermit was ever in was Sam and friends, then later on Sesame Street and Kermits Swamp years. Many suspect that Kermit was named after one of Hensons childhood friends.

Miss Piggy
Miss Piggy is the worlds best actor, singer, and dancer, but is hopelessly in love with Kermit, even though Kermit doesnt show that he loves her back. Out of all Miss Piggys voices, only 3 out of 14 of them actually belong to women. The men who have voiced her are Eric Jacobsen, Frank Oz, Hal Rayle Names- Casey and Tia Class- 7CY Teacher- Mr McKay Date Due- Friday the 15th of November

The Muppets and Richard Hunt (used for other languages) while the women were Fran Brill, and Laurie OBrien.

Animal
Animal is the crazy drummer which plays in the famous band The Electric Mayhem. He gets very loud and hyperactive, and has a passion for bunnies and impressionist paintings. Animal is performed by Frank Oz (who also voices Miss Piggy), and his drumming is done by Ronnie Verrell, who plays in two famous orchestras.

Gonzo
Gonzo is the weird bird with blue feathers, a curled beak, and bug out eyes. He holds a career as a daredevil, and he concentrates on performing amazing stunts, from jumping out of planes without parachutes to putting electric eels down his pants. Gonzo survives these stunts because of the fact that he cant feel pain, and is really flexible. He is performed by Dave Goelz, and has had many careers apart from a daredevil, such as that of a plumber, a photographer and a trumpet player.

Fozzie Bear
The out-dated comedian, whos best friend is Kermit. A fozzie is someone who puts a lot of imagination and exaggeration into their stories, making this a fitting name for him. Though Fozzies jokes (usually accompanied with his punch line Wocka Wocka) are old and lack in good material, he puts his heart into them, making you love him for trying. He is voiced by Frank Oz, and has appeared in every single Muppet production there is, making him one of the Muppets main characters.
