Observation Form No.9 Assignment Assignments are tasks given by the teacher to be done either at home or in class. This is one of the most common ways to assess student learning. The natures of the assignment are; clear and definite, involved a challenge, involved students past experiences. The teacher makes sure that the given assignment is clear and definite, they make sure that the assignment is being align to their course objectives and teaching goals. Assignments make students to work independently, it can show if the students really retain the lessons they learn in the subject. The purposes which are apparent are to give direction, to direct study, based on needs and purpose of the students and to correct errors. Assignments are given to increase the knowledge and improve the abilities and skills of the students. Assignment is designed to reinforce what students have already learned and having them apply to new situations. It also prepares them to be ready for their upcoming lessons. The type of assignments that were given by the teacher are; essays, research works, oral presentations, projects, case studies, and group assignments. These are used to assess students comprehension in a specific content and the ability to explain their own thoughts. It enhances their ability to understand the content of the lesson.
