Artist Statement

Pablo Picasso said, There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot, but there are others who, thanks to their art and intelligence, transform a yellow spot into the sun. I view graphic design as an art and intelligence to transform communication.
I work primarily in print design and my style is contemporary but adaptive to the current trends in the industry. I strongly emphasize balance, cohesiveness, and particularly tend to produce pieces that are clean and spatial. I start out with an idea, and then sketch it first before transferring that sketch to a digital format. I find that this helps my minds creativity and makes it easier to work digitally when you have a reference point. Whenever possible, I incorporate my own photography into my work to make it more of an original piece. By this I mean that Im in control of the project from selecting the location, setting up the props and models, taking the photos and using them in my digital designs as part of the composition. I believe that if a piece of work I have produced serves its purpose well, I have succeeded in using the elements of design to communicate. My goal is to start incorporating more of my own photography into my work and start creating digital only works that will bring awareness on social, economical and global issues like global warming, that have an impact on the community as a whole.
