Social Studies Grading Rubric for NCLC Historical Fiction Newspaper Project.

Your assignment is to write a historical fiction newspaper article about the National Child Labor Committee (NCLC). Your article will include answers to all three of the components of the essential question given to you. How did the National Child Labor Committee (NCLC) come into being, expose the issues of child labor in the US during the late 1800s and early 1900s and how did their work eventually affect child laborers? Your article should inform the reader about the NCLC in a narrative (telling a story) historical fiction manner. You have received a handout with historical fiction examples. Your article will be part of a simulated front page of a 1900s US newspaper. Historical fiction is about historical people and/or real historical events that are woven into a framework of a made-up/narrative story. Your article may be written from the perspective of either a newspaper reporter or a member of the NCLC. The historical aspects of your article (the answers to the 3 components of the essential question) must be supported by credible evidence. Credible evidence must be turned in to Mrs. Burns to receive full credit. The due date of your article is ________________________________.
