Narrative 1.4.

1 Classroom Learning Environment Implications WHOLE CLASS: The classroom learning environment includes both whole group and individual work. The students are encouraged to be self-motivated and follow a consistent schedule. There are specified activities where students work in collaborated groups, which allows them the opportunity to learn social skills such as working together, sharing ideas, acknowledging someone else s work or ideas, and taking turns. At other times, students are encouraged to work independently; showing their individual skills and cognitive ability. Classroom expectations and procedures are discussed frequently and prompts are used if students need to be reminded of an expected behavior or participation skill. I use the prompt St, students respond op, Stop when I need their attention. Students are encouraged to participate in whole group discussions, which often help to connect background knowledge with what we are being introduced to in a lesson. Students also interact with technology such as iPads and the Smart Board. When students are engaged in learning, it becomes a part of them; they are not simply spectators. Communication is the number one connector between the students and me. I often remind them that if they have a concern I am interested and want to know about it. Lesson plans are created that provide organization for teaching and accountability in meeting state standards. SUBGROUP: The subgroup keeps all classroom expectations and proper procedures. They know when and where they are expected to meet when we are working in our tier groups. These students are encouraged to be self-motivated by simple reminders and positive encouragement. FOCUS STUDENT A: Encouragement and following Student As IEP is imperative for his success. He is self-motivated and perseveres through his assignments and learning activities. At times, I need to remind him to slow down and take his time. Student A is cooperative and works diligently, along with his classmates. All of the classroom expectations and procedures are followed by Student A. FOCUS STUDENT B: Student B will need frequent reminders to remain focused and stay on task. It is beneficial if I have him look at the clock and give him a designated time to have a certain amount of work completed. I will maintain open communication with him and the cooperating teacher. Student B needs reminding of when it is appropriate to talk. Simply saying, 3rd grade behavior is a quick prompt for him to re-evaluate and adjust to what he needs to be doing. All of the classroom expectations and procedures are followed by Student A.
