Matt Fultz SEDU 183 Lesson Plan Stage 1 Standards Analyze in detail a series of events described in a text; determine

e whether earlier events caused later ones or simply preceded them. Objectives: Students will be able to: Comprehend events leading to the Revolutionary War Explain what caused the Revolutionary War Explain what came out of the Revolutionary War Explain conflicts between selected nations because of the Revolutionary War Enduring Understanding The students will be able to use what they learned in the Revolutionary War to comprehend future endeavors in the United States history. Essential Questions - What is a valid reason to go to war? When do you feel freedom is crossed to begin a revolution? Describe the United State's economy prior to the war. Stage 2 Formal - Once finished with lesson, students will choose an event the brought the colonist closer to a revolution and go into more detail about it. They will use either a PowerPoint or a Prezi to do so. This will allow students to explain a selected cause of the Revolutionary War as well as all if not most of the events leading up to it. Informal Within the presentation there will be questions brought up by the teacher to allow you to see if your students comprehend the information. This will allow you to be certain that the lesson is being accepted and understood by all your students.

Materials: Laptops/Computers/Or given technology within the classroom Lesson: T: Open up with general questions involving the topic of a revolution. Ask students to discuss essential questions or similar questions. S: Discuss and bring up ideas in-group discussion lead discussion into the lesson.

Stage 3

T: Run quick presentation using PowerPoint talking about laws the British brought over the colonies during this time as well as showing consequences to these laws. S: Take notes and ask questions on the presentation. T: During presentation select important events to go into more detail and activate the class with such as "Boston Massacre" "Sugar Act" "Tea Act" etc. S: Have students discuss importance of given events and how that grew independence thinking. T: After the Presentation finishes and answered any ending questions. Ask students to brainstorm and discuss topic of "Do you feel a revolution was right for what happened and why." S: Allow students to state their opinions on the situation and work off them. T: Give students the assessment of doing a Presentation or Prezi on a selected act only allowing two or three to work on a selected event to spread events and information. S: Work off the PowerPoint given in class and go into more detail on their event they chose. Prepare to present them to the class on completion date. Conclusion: Students will have a better understanding on why the colonies went to war on the British to gain their right of independence. Will build into the Revolutionary war and will be able to be related too for future endeavors for the States. Individual Education Program: If a student is declined in eyesight, They will have a personal copy of the presentation so they are able to follow along and be able to comprehend the notes without having to strain their self in trying to follow the presentation on the screen.
