A REACTION PAPER ON DRUGS

Last Saturday, July 20, 2013, our class watched two films on drug use and addiction, as an introduction to our lesson about Drugs. The first film was a documentary of some sort, on how drug affects the individual. The documentary also featured some drug addicts who went to rehab/survived the bad effects on drugs. The second film was a movie titled Snitch. It focused on the legal processes and criminal issues on drugs. Drugs are taken as anti-depressants, anti-anxiety, performance-enhancers, etc. drugs could either be medicinal or some people take it just for fun and to look and feel cool. Drugs are harmful to our body. We may feel high at first, but drug overuse can sometimes lead to death. You cannot do away with drugs because it is very addicting. That is why drug users take drugs continuously. With this, the effects add up, deteriorating our health, especially our mental health. People who use drugs are mostly teenagers, and this is due to peer pressure, work/school pressure, influence, etc. Drug users have a much disoriented mind-set, they avoid social interactions, and they are lost. In some cases, drug users tend to commit suicide, because they cannot handle the effects and they could not control themselves to stop taking drugs. As early as now, we must not engage in drug activities. We should choose the right people, and we should also be catalysts of change to those who are badly influenced on drugs. As individuals who are made in Gods image and likeness, we must use our gift of free will to choose the right path and to have the right judgement. To the people who have already started to take drugs, they must have the initiative to enter into rehab. They must also ask for Gods divine intervention, because with Him, anything is possible. We must be considerate of the people around us, especially our family, since they would suffer along with us if we take drugs. We always have the choice to choose between whats right and wrong since it is our innate freedom to do so. But remember that we always have a choice, its the choices that make us who we are, and we can always choose to do what's right.
