Cubic function

A cubic function is defined by : Y=ax3 +bx2 + cx + d where a is not equal to 0. They have an identifiable shape. ( -S- Shape)

Exercise 1 : F(x) = x3 and G(x) = (x+3)3 -Draw a table of F and G from -5 to 5. -Sketch the graph. -Label each graph clearly. -Describe the transformation Exercise 2 : F(x)= x3 -7x +6 - draw a table from -6 to 6 - sketch the graph of F(x) - Find the roots ( for which values of x, F(x) =0) - find where the graph intersects the y-axis. Label this clearly on your sketch. - Find the coordinate of any local maxima or minima. Exercise 3 : F(x) = 2x3 -8x2 -22x -12 - draw a table from -6 to 6 - sketch the graph of F(x) - Find the roots ( for which values of x, F(x) =0) - find where the graph intersects the y-axis. Label this clearly on your sketch. - Find the coordinate of any local maxima or minima. SUIS 2013-2014 Leveel Sindy
