Potential message: [Identity] Find your identity in Christ Audience: [Youth] Urban youth ministry Chi town, Detroit, LA or wherever the HS leads Theoretical foundations: Input: lines of communication o Linear Romans o Cyclical story o Random picture book o Flower picture collage I would somehow implement 3 or 4 of these methods in one message. This would keep the audiences attention. There would be sections. Importation Exportation Explanation [What is being sent, received, and what is the noise?] Ethos_________Logos____________ethos Pathos________Logos____________pathos Source________Message_________Receiver The logos (denotative and connotative) would concern identity and identity confusion since adolescence is a stage in life when youth desperately need to find their identity in Christ. Scriptural passages concerning self, God, and hope would be missionally spoken. The hope would be to show their need to find identity in Christ, show them what this looks like, and share Gods Scripture with them in a denotative and connotative fashion. Gods truth will be spoken both directly and youth will also be given the opportunity to use their imaginations when thinking about the logos message. The pathos (passionate intention) would integrate their internal conflicts of identity crisis and desire to find confidence in a postmodern world. The logos, by the power of the Holy Spirit, would speak into their confusing emotions, imaginations, and situations. The intention is to bring any and every youth closer to Christ. The ethos is quintessentially urban-youth-culture. These urban youth live in a culture of confusing relativity and a plethora of mixed messages. Students, dropouts, and potheads need to hear about an identity of confidence, future hope, and security; this is found nowhere else but in Christ. Media, consumerism, and many other aspects of youth culture affect them among other spiritual happenings. (Eph. 6:12) Hopeful Outcome - Phases of Response: o Quest (adoximas) indifference o Commit (metanoia) - confession

Communications Project

My hope, as a steward of the mysteries of God, is to speak into the lives of youth wherever they are at. If they are searching for truth, whether indifferent or not, the hope is to have part of the message speak to them. For those in the audience of metanoia or doximas, the hope is also to reach them on their particular level. The baby-Christian (metanoia) should have some more milk to drink, all while the more mature in faith (doximas) are able to sink their jaws in some meat from the Scriptures. [I used to do this in child evangelism fellowship. I was trained to appeal to all three audiences with certain applications to each group.] This message should not only have applications to each group, but should meet each group on their home turf. Each group will be able to dig their cleats into the different levels on the field. Medium: Street interviewing, images, and Scripture (possibly) o Image video with music, scripture reading and short interviews at the end. Expected response: (see above hopeful outcome) I expect the Holy Spirit to be the wind beneath the wings of this telos. My hope is for them to be taught, moved, and delighted. (Cicero/Augustine) Brainstorming: I will implement methods from the following Ignaceous youth pastor (humor) Man on the street (interviews) Picture book (images words) Rob bell videos (pathos) Chris Farley (humor) Lecrae, Trip Lee, Lito

Music, video, images, record talking Images media center read in person Images, words picture book Prezi words, pictures (no music capability)

This entire prezi would be part of a message. In order for me to make this message relational and attention getting I would be speaking with the rhythms of the song. Also, this would require more in-depth research and theological study to be more precise about which words to communicate.

**Publisher picture brochure music playing then read while going through prezi (images/words) Song: clubbed to death, by Rob Dougan Camera: I will use these resources to use media or will draw upon certain persons experiences 5.13.10 Dwayne Skene, Nate Evans Westwinds Professor Kono Urban Youth Ministry: Identity Crisis
