my current job. I work as a server at a Mexican restaurant. At this restaurant we have the various levels of expertise and the many job titles that a community needs. The common goals and the lexis. Every aspect of a discourse community can be found at a restaurant. ` For my research I already have a website that I visit regularly where other servers get on

and blog about situations they have while on the job. I also have plenty of friends who are in the serving community as well as coworkers who would be willing to go under an interview. I have two friends who I go to hickory tavern every Sunday night who are also servers so I will probably be interviewing them on our regular Sunday night get together after work. They will know a lot about the restaurant business as they have also risen through the ranks from bus boy to server so they will know different views to working at a restaurant. My discourse community ethnography will not be only about the server point of view it will also include how the cooks, dishwashers, managers, hostesses, and bartenders contribute to the goal. The goal of course being customer satisfaction and fast service.
