Introduction: (5 min.) 1. Welcome class: Introduce myself and what I am doing there as a student teacher. Be as friendly and excited as possible, but also firm as students may try to test me.

2. Agenda: Go over agenda for the class and address that questions are always welcome but remind students to use their hand. 3. Name Tags: Hand out name tags while taking attendance. Find out if Im pronouncing names correctly as well as using the preferred version of their name.

Lesson Body: (50 min.) 1. Go over PowerPoint & Warm-Up (20 mins.) During this presentation students will learn information about who I am, what I do, what and who Im teaching, my procedures and expectations, and how to be successful in my class. As rules have already been established because I am entering half way through the year, I will ask the students to briefly explain some of the gymnasium rules and why they are important. To keep students engaged, I might even pass around a few pictures of myself that arent included in the slides, with the expectation that they were be silently listening to what Im discussing. The slides will entail what units we plan to cover during my practicum and ask students if they have specific games related to the unit activities that they might like to play. I will tell them to remind me closer to the unit and I will try to fit some of the games into our class time. I will also explain how being carded works when a student has had too many warnings. I will have two students demonstrate situations where they will get carded and what the cards look like. This will also reinforce appropriate versus inappropriate behaviour. Students will do a mock run through of entering the gym and sitting in two rows according to alphabetical order. We will then move right into picking the warm-up. Each day one student will get to pick the daily warm-up so that they have a little more control over their class. The student picker will change each day and simply go in order of the attendance list. A student must be on good behaviour to get this privilege. The picker will be allowed to choose from two options. Students will participate in their warm-up and I will also test out the attention getter (look sharp). They will know to sit back down on the black line once they are finished their warm-up as it will be discussed during the presentation. 2. Active Bingo (15 mins.) First I will explain how this game works. Students will be individually completing their active (bingo) sheet. They must go into the middle of the gym and pick a card which will correspond with a box on their active sheet. When they go back to their sheet, they must do the skill on the box (ex. hop) all the way to another person in the class and say their name. That person must sign their sheet. Every student can only be on the active sheet once. Once a student has completed a row, column, or diagonal line, they yell ACTIVE. The winner gets to assign a punishment to the rest of the class (ex. 10 burpees). Students will then play active.

3. Who Am I (5 mins.) In this game, students will get a name tag put on their back that has a classmates name on it. They must go around the room and ask the other students yes or no questions to figure out who they are. They may only ask one question to each peer and must do 5 of a certain skill before they can ask someone a new question (this means the must be spread out). Once they figure out who they are, they must find their teacher to check their guess. If caught cheating by the teacher, their skill doubles and they must now do 10 of a skill for the REST of the game. Before the game starts I will ensure that students know everyones name in the class and also expectations of acceptable questions. I will have the students role-play what acceptable and unacceptable questions and answers are. 4. Who Am I Questionnaire (10 mins.) Students will then be asked to spread out around the gym and fill out a questionnaire regarding their hobbies and interesting facts about themselves. They will be invited to share as much as theyd like me to know about themselves. Once they are done, they are to sit on the black line and wait until all students are finished. The students will then find a partner (I will pair people up who may not be so outgoing) and they will be introduced to me by their partner. To save time, I will ask students to keep their introduction to three key points and explain that their partner can only say things that were written down by the person who they are introducing. Closure: (5 mins.) Review of procedures and expectations for tomorrows class, as well as their dismissal procedure Feedback from students on what they liked or are excited for Review students names and give constructive feedback on how they met my expectations Explain next class: working on group work procedures and starting our Swamp Ball unit Get changed!

Assessments: As this class is strictly based around getting to know the students and reinforcing procedures, I will solely be assessing through observation and key questioning.
