Monica Martell Math 1040 Term Project Part Three

The two sampling methods I chose were Simple Random Sampling, and Systematic Sampling. After creating the two histograms for each sample, I realized that the Systematic Sample had a normal bell shaped distribution.

Unlike the Simple Random Sample, the histogram which was constructed for this sample demonstrated an abnormal distribution pattern; as you can see in the image below.

The Box Plots distribution for the Systematic Sample displays its mean of 2.37. Its minimum value placement is between the values of zero and one. Its maximum value is around 3.5 as well. The shape of its distribution resembles an actual square; its length and width are close in proximity.

The Box Plots distribution for the Simple Random Sample displays its mean of 3.001. The shape of its distribution is a thin rectangle. Its minimum value is a little more than one; and its maximum value is around six. The maximum value for this distribution is close to twice the value of the Systematic Samplings maximum value.

In order to compare the results with the two samples and the population, it is necessary to compare the mean gathered from each data as well as the corresponding standard deviation. ENTIRE POPULATION: Mean: 2.637 Standard Deviation: 0.867 SIMPLE RANDOM SAMPLE: Mean: 3.001 Standard Deviation: 1.011 SYSTEMATIC SAMPLE: Mean: 2.37 Standard Deviation: 0.73

Although each sample has a difference greater than 0.05; the systematic sample closely resembles the entire population, this is in comparison with the simple random sample. Therefore the systematic sample would be a better representation of the entire population.
