UNIT OF INQUIRY REFLECTION WWAIPAT

On this previous Unit Of Inquiry we worked on civilizations and our central idea was: inventions can be used to make connections to past civilizations. Our denition for civilizations was: a civilization is an educated state of human society that strives for advancement through cultural and artistic celebrations, industry, creativity, scientic understanding and established government. Our key concepts were causation, change and connection. The rst thing we did was unpack the central idea. The last thing we did was make our brainframes on an invention. On the way, on literacy, we made our time travelling stories where a character nds and ancient Chinese invention, it makes the character go back in time, and the character saves someone. After they save someone they go back to the present. That was my favourite thing we did for this unit. We are still recording them on keynote and garageband though. This was, by far, the favourite unit I have ever had YET. I think I could have improved my brainframe by looking for more civilizations used my invention. I had a bit of help on my brainframe by all the research we did and by my group practice brainframe. I think my brainframe was the most challenging part of this unit. My invention was gunpowder and I chose it because I wanted to learn much more on gunpowder than I did before. For the rst question causation I had a little bit of trouble because gunpowder was made by accident by alchemists in China who were looking for an elixir of life. Ironically, they got the opposite. I have learnt about loads of inventions and about them on this Unit. I loved this unit.
