Sang Hyun Lee WRT 1010 12/4/13 Final Reflection I truly believe that I have grown as a writer in this semester. There were various lectures and assignments that forced me to develop what I needed to develop. I have gained some new strategies and skills that will help me go through Writing 1020 class that I will be taking next semester. After doing many research papers and essays in this class, I am fully ready to encounter the next level of writing class here in Madonna University. I believe I developed variety of writing strategies, wrote research paper using credible sources, and utilized rhetorical patterns for various situations. However, I still need to work on analyzing texts critically and collaborating with others. After all the assignments that I have completed this semester, I still like my first narrative essay. I wrote most of the assignments with joy, but I wrote my first narrative essay with most enthusiasm. It will be one of my favorite papers that I wrote throughout my college essays. I believe that I managed to write my first narrative essay in chorological order and vividly described what had happened when I went through that event. I brainstormed before what I was going to write about, and I managed to find the most dynamic one in my life. After writing my first draft paper, I visited writing center. After writing center corrected some of the errors, I did a peer review on my paper to exclude some of the stories that were irrelevant. Then, I turned in the rough draft to my professor to get some of the grammar mistakes and structural errors that were still present. I went a long way to make a final draft, and that is one of the reasons why I like this paper most. The most challenging piece of all was the 5-page essay. I expected it to be a 7-page essay, so I had hard time with it. It was difficult to find the right credible data on my topic,

and I spent long hours just trying to find sources. Also, the length got me into trouble since it was my first time writing a long research paper exceeding 3 pages. Although it was hard and tiring, I did not change my topic at last. I went through various databases for my topic and tried to find statistics and research papers done by scholars. I managed to find several that were interesting and fit into my argument and topic. I also had to brainstorm again to think about the opposing argument and how I can counter argue that point. I actually spent hours just to brainstorm about how I am going to structure this paper. At last, I did write 7-page essay which I am proud of myself. I feel thankful for all my peers who peer reviewed my papers. They made the difference, and mostly to Professor Harcourt who encouraged me and made me prepare for the next level of writing. Professor Harcourts lectures were useful and interesting to me. Her effort to fix my papers in great detail made me grow as a writer, and I can say that she was a great professor without a doubt. I also thank writing center for correcting some of the big mistakes that I made with my paper. I had great time in the class, and I can definitely say that I have grown as a writer.
