Materials Needed: Computer, list of five people who have performed kind acts for the class. On this list should be the persons first name, last name, home address, and the kind act performed for the student. Level: Pre-Intermediate and above Introduction: In this assignment, students will learn about expressing gratitude and develop a deeper understanding of the relationship between Manjiro and Captain Whitman. Students will do so through the use of multiple Microsoft Office applications to create thank you letters to people that have shown kindness to the students. Procedure: 1. 2. 3. 4. I will lead the students to the computer lab for the day(s). Students will log on to the class website as I direct them through the steps of the activity. Students will download Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and modify existing information. Students will create a thank you letter in Microsoft Word and use Mail Merge to modify the letter, including the information from the spreadsheet in the process. 5. Students will use the Step by Step Mail Merge Wizard in Microsoft Office and will follow up with me during the process of following the Wizard.
